Welcome to Sanilac County Department of Veteran Affairs

Mission Statement

"We are committed to the citizens of Sanilac County to assist those who have bravely defended our nations freedom, constitution and security with honor and integrity.  Promising courteous, knowledgeable and dedicated service to all patrons while insuring respective federal, state and local entitlements due."



The Sanilac County Department of Veterans is a branch of county government funded solely from a county-wide millage established in 1998.  The office assists veterans and their dependents with all benefits they are entitled to under federal and state veteran-related law.

 

   

DIRECTOR:

Tina R. Roff is the Director for the office and has worked for the Sanilac County Department of Veterans Affairs since 1999.  She is a nationally accredited service officer holding accreditation with National Association of County Veterans Service Officers, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans, Military Order of the Purple Heart, The Retired and Enlisted Association and Vietnam Veterans of America. Tina has extensive training in VA law and is currently enrolled in the five-year Certified Veterans Advocate advanced training program through National Association of County Veterans Service Officers.

Tina received the Norman R. Bielak award for 2004-2005. This VFW sponsored award is presented to the most outstanding county counselor of the year for many faithful years of dedicated and cooperative service exhibited with the VFW State Service Office and a desire to serve the veteran community.

She currently serves as the Treasurer for the Michigan Association of County Veterans Counselors and has for the past 8 years. She is part of their Executive Committee as well.  Tina also serves on the budget committee for the National Association of County Veterans Service Officers.
